YEF held a session on Advocacy and Storytelling for change
Back
Advocacy and Education on how to better convey and share compelling stories goes a long way in enabling communities to positively influence their surroundings and foster understanding of each other. This is especially true for the Youth in our communities.
#ASKnet is proud to support The Youth Empowerment Foundation YEF in these efforts.

At YEF, we believe that advocacy is power the power to raise your voice, tell your story, and influence real transformation in our communities.
We held a powerful session on Advocacy and Storytelling, focused on equipping youth and community members with the skills to turn personal and collective challenges into powerful advocacy messages.
We explored how to develop powerful advocacy messages, through six key steps:
Identify the issue 📌
Know who is affected 👩🏽🦱👦🏿
Explain why it matters ⚠️
Define the change you want đź’ˇ
Target the right audience 🎯
Craft a clear call to action 📣
We practiced framing our messages using real issues in our settlements:
đź”´ Forced Marriage
🔵 Girl Child Education
🟣 Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
🟢 Environment and Climate Change
Each message followed a structure:
Issue → Impact → Solution → Call to Action
With real quotes from real stories—because our experiences are powerful tools for justice and healing.
Some of the powerful voices we shared today:
“If I had a uniform and lunch, I wouldn’t have needed a husband.”
“When I got my period, I dropped out—not because I failed, but because I bled.”
“I carried a jerrycan. I didn’t expect to carry trauma.”
“Climate doesn’t wait. Neither should we.”
Our advocacy isn’t just noise it’s a demand for dignity, equity, and opportunity.
This is made possible by r0g_agency and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)
